Most of what we pour starts as a slab: backyard slabs for outdoor living, side-yard slabs that replace dirt and weeds, and pads for sheds, seating areas and equipment. Innovative Concrete Solutions forms, reinforces and finishes concrete slabs across Solano and Napa County, built on a compacted base with rebar so they stay flat and drain the right way.

Building a garage, addition or other structure? That needs an engineered foundation; see our concrete foundation service.
We dig out soft or organic soil and set the grade so water drains away from the house. On a recent Yountville project the site was graded first, then formed and poured as a broom-finish slab with a smooth dark border.
A compacted base gives the slab even support. Much of Solano and Napa County sits on clay that swells in winter and shrinks in summer, and a thin or loose base is the main reason slabs crack and settle.
We form the edges, set the slope, and place rebar on supports so it sits in the middle of the slab where it does its job — not wire mesh that ends up on the bottom.

We place and finish the concrete in the finish you chose, then cut or tool control joints at the right spacing so any shrinkage crack stays inside a straight line.
Curing compound goes on as soon as the surface allows, so the slab cures evenly instead of drying out on top — especially important in summer heat and afternoon wind.
We walk the site with you, measure, and talk through finish and layout options. You get an itemized estimate that shows demolition, base, reinforcement and finish separately — not a single number on a form — and we check whether your project needs a permit before you commit to anything.
It depends on what’s going on it. Walkways and patio slabs are thinner than slabs that carry vehicles or heavy equipment. We size the thickness, base and reinforcement for your use and soil.
Concrete shrinks as it cures, and clay soil moves with the seasons. Good base prep, rebar and properly spaced control joints keep cracking under control and inside the joints. More in why concrete driveways crack in Solano County.
Yes. We set the grade so water drains away from the foundation, keep the slab below any weep screed, and separate it from the house with an expansion joint.
Foot traffic is generally fine after a day or two. Vehicles and heavy loads wait about ten days, depending on the weather — we’ll give you a specific date when we pour.
We build throughout Solano and Napa County and nearby Yolo County, including Vacaville, Fairfield, Napa, Vallejo, Davis and Woodland. See our full service area.
